The Full Band Spectrum (FBS) circuit automatically transmits multiple frequencies simultaneously. The increased frequency range means that the signal received from the detector coil is analyzed from a wide range of responses. This allows the Explorer SE to analyse more target information so that the Target Identification (ID) is more accurate.
Ground balancing is automatic with Minelab's advanced digital filtering. Whatever field conditions you encounter, from dry clay to wet black sand or rich loam, Minelab will find what you're looking for.

This powerful, intelligent metal detector will help you find treasures that have been both lost and missed by the generations before you. The following information comes from our own experience with the Minelab Explorer SE, and is meant to help those who are thinking about getting one for the first time as well as those who already have one.
The Minelab Explorer SE comes with a 10.5” Double ‘D’ coil that contains two ‘D’ shaped windings and is perfect for locating deep targets. The Double ‘D’ coil provides you with a detection pattern as you search that is “blade like” and is sensitive from tip to heel. This allows you to pinpoint your targets easily because you can cover more ground with each sweep, with almost zero overlapping!
This means that the signal the Explorer SE receives from the coil is analyzed from a wider range of responses than many other detectors, providing you with more accurate information about your target’s identification.
We would like to tell you to turn on the Explorer SE and go, but we’d much rather tell you to play with all the functions and settings. The interface on this machine is incredibly easy-to-use and completely intuitive. It is one of few detectors that include a “Menu” and “Back” button. With simple access to key functions, programming it is a breeze. The digital screen provides larger target coordinates and improved menu fonts making it easy on the eyes. It is powered by a fast, responsive microprocessor that features digital readout values of the “Iron Mask” setting, and “Pinpoint” mode, among others.
Minelab’s pinpointing couldn’t get any easier or any better. By enabling the pinpoint mode on your detector, you have told it to become a non-motion detector; temporarily disengaging discrimination patterns and emitting a signal for many more metals. The Explorer SE will give a continuous audio response, and get louder as you pass the coil directly over your treasure!
The “Ground Balancing” provided by Minelab is automatic, with advanced digital filtering. This means that whatever field conditions you’re searching through – dry clay, black sand or rich loam – this detector will find what you’re looking for. It alerts you with audio tones you can set via the new “Pitch Hold” mode. Because this is a 3rd generation model, it features a new “Threshold” that stabilizes excessive noise in a trashy environment; giving you less false signals and the ability to cover ground faster!
