This powerful, intelligent metal detector will help you find treasures that have been both lost and missed by the generations before you. The following information comes from our own experience with the Minelab GPX-4000, and is meant to help those who are thinking about getting one for the first time as well as those who already have one.

The Minelab GPX-4000 comes with a 10” Double ‘D’ coil that contains two ‘D’ shaped windings and is perfect for locating deep targets. The Double ‘D’ coil provides you with a detection pattern as you search that is “blade like” and is sensitive from tip to heel. This allows you to pinpoint your targets easily because you can cover more ground with each sweep, with almost zero overlapping!

The GPX-4000 we’re featuring is an entirely new class of gold machine – not an upgraded GP-3500. Minelab has equipped this machine with their patented “Multi-Period Sensing” (MPS) and “Dual Voltage” (DVT) technology. This means that the GPX-4000 has been specifically designed to search effectively and deeply for gold, no matter how bad the soil mineralization is. We easily consider this one of the best gold detectors in the world.

There are a significant amount of new features on this detector. The new “Gain” function sets the overall sensitivity level of your detector. You can adjust the gain setting for a variety of settings, from mild to mineralized.

An all new “Sensitive Timing” offers two settings. “Smooth Timing” eliminates false ground noise from “hot” conditions and dramatically reduces “hot rock” signals. The “Extra Timing” provides you with extra depth for large targets in mild ground conditions. The GTX-4000 also features a new “Ground Balance,” with a “Specific Ground Balance” mode to detect gold in very hot grounds easier. This is especially useful when using “mono-loop” coils.

The GPX-4000 also comes with pre-set search modes that will be a welcome change for experienced treasure hunters. The three, pre-programmed search modes Minelab includes in this detector are “Patch Finding,” “General Detecting,” and “Deep Detecting.” You can customize each of these settings, or just turn it on and go!

Other new features on the GTX-4000 include upgraded volume limit, motion optimization and a new response system. This allows you to find small nuggets as well as deeply buried larger nuggets and adjust the volume of the signal without compromising its strength!

Possibly the best upgrade on this machine is the new LCD display. It allowsyou to accurately select variable settings for the main functions of the detector. Theinterface also remembers your settings for future use, and automatically saves your personal settings when you shut it down. The most commonly used functions are clearly located on the front panel of screen for easy access, and you can restore factory presets at any time.
