More Info
This genuine, digital LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)-readout metal detector will help you find treasures that have been both lost and missed by the generations before you. The Sharp Shooter II is very affordable and comes with easy-to-use touch pad control and a versatile interchangeable coil system. This is possible thanks to Bounty Hunters renowned BOUNTY D-Tech search coils. The following information comes from our own experience with the Sharp Shooter II, and is meant to help those who are thinking about getting one for the first time as well as those who already have one.
The model we’re featuring comes standard with an 8” open-face, waterproof coil. Larger coils are available in the accessories area for this metal detector, but the 8” is a great place to start. This searchcoil is versatile and deep-seeking, making it effective for any type of detecting. Because it is waterproof, you can submerge this coil into water without any adverse affect on the operation of the detector – this is perfect for hunting in the shallow waters of beaches and rivers, as well as on land!
When your coil is swung over something worth digging up, the three-tone audio discrimination will alert you*. The LCD read-out meter will indicate the probable treasure target under the searchcoil. The Sharp Shooter II provides selectable automatic or manual notch levels as well as automatic ground balance which targets metals under 3 audio output possibilities.
*This means that after a little practice, you’ll be able to hear the difference in your various finds! Because it has a ¼” headphone jack on the control panel, almost any stereo-type headphone-set can be used with the Sharp Shooter II.
To hold your target steady, the Sharp Shooter II comes standard with an S-Rod Handle System made of anodized black aluminum which adjusts for most heights. The forearm cup keeps your grip steady andcomfortable as you swing the searchcoil over almost any terrain, and Bounty Hunter also includes an S-Rod Stand below the armrest to keep your Sharp Shooter II off the ground and out of your hands while you dig.
The Sharp Shooter II is as easy to operate as it looks. Simply turn it on, and press the “All Metal” pad, and all metals will be detected and sound a medium tone. Press “Disc” (Discrimination) to reject Iron and detect special treasure targets with the Three Tone Audio Discrimination – low tone for small gold and nickel, medium tone for tabs, caps or zinc pennies. High tones are reserved for all other coins, silver and other treasures. By turning the “Disc/Notch” control clockwise (High), your detector will ignore trash like foil and aluminum (pull tabs & bottom caps), but still detect silver and copper.
Turning the “Disc/Notch” control counterclockwise (low) will allow your detector to pick up all nickels and gold, along with tabs, copper and silver coins. It will, however, continue to reject iron. Press “Notch” to reject iron and tabs, but still detect nickels and other, non-trash, targets. Press “Auto Notch” to automatically eliminate sound for most trash items, and alert you to treasure. If you want to re-set your detector to respond to all types of metals without discrimination (civil war & revolutionary war relics and artifacts), press the “All Metal” touch pad. Take our word for it when we say you’ll grow comfortable to these simple settings quickly.
Automatic Ground Balancing is another easy-to-use feature of the Sharp Shooter II, and allows operation in almost any soil with high mineralization. This means that no matter what type of soil you’re searching through, your detector will find the treasure that’s hidden beneath! For different types of soils your detector can be updated quickly and frequently by simple pressing the “Ground Trac” touch pad.
